I woke this morning and decided it would be a good day to take a run up to Portugal Cove. I was going to make it a solo venture, but decided not to be selfish and would see if anyone wanted to share the ocean. I e-mailed a few paddling buddies, and even posted to the local newsgroup, to see if anyone else was interested. It was short notice, but Brian (a.k.a. The Old Master) responded that he would meet me at St. Philips.
I was on the water by the time Brian arrived. Then Derrick showed up, and we became a pod of three kayakers.... a good minimum number for safer paddling. It was a bit breezy with a northerly wind, making it a chilly and bumpy ride up to Portugal Cove.
Here's a short video of Brian putting in on the beach...
And here's a few pics I took along the way...

Brian was discussing something while Derrick fiddled with a piece of 4-strand rope he found on the beach |
On the way back we came across a couple fellow, one of whom was getting ready to do a little surfing |

Tomorrow is supposedto be warm a sunny... Should be a good day for a leisurely club paddle...
